How Can I Balance My Roles As Mother And Wife?
As a mother and wife, I have dealt with balancing my roles. I have two teenage sons, 14 and 18. To say simple three words – Boys Are Boys. And I am married to my beloved husband, who happens to be criminal law student. I feel so much blessed to place myself as being mother and wife. Being a mother is very beautiful position as a part of the family. Being a wife is very amazing position as a part of the marriage. Balancing my roles as mother and wife is very fun and appreciated so much. I will explain this below on “how to balance the roles as mother and wife”…
Some women know how to balance their roles as mother and wife. Some women feel that balancing their roles are hard. Some women do not know how to handle both being mother and wife at the same time. Some women wish to give up their roles and consider leaving the family. Some women choose to walk out on their husbands and children without an explanation. Ok, let’s get started with how to balance my roles as mother and wife.
I am a mother of two teen sons, I see that my sons demand all the things they want for their lives. One 14 year old son really wants to buy his motocross but my husband and I talk sometimes about his wants and needs. We both think that buying the motocross is not needed but we understand that my son really wants to ride his motocross in order to build his dream of becoming a pro supercross rider someday. One 18 year old son, is not finished with his high school due to the school credits requirement. He has hard time to make his own decision on which colleges he will be attending. Of course, all kids’ demands make painful pressures! Praise the Lord..
As a mother, I have to understand myself as all sorts of roles: teacher, love-giver, counselor, caregiver, chef, trainer, and financial adviser.
As a wife, I see that my dear husband is hard-working person and he expects to earn more money in order to buy his new 4×4 truck. He does not want to buy diesel truck since the gas price goes up crazily. Sometimes, he gives up his dream truck in order to support our family and pay the bills. I tell him to try to get $100.00 out of his paycheck monthly and save his money to buy the truck, he does this now. I give my best support and encouragement toward my husband, I love him. I understand myself as many wonderful roles included: encourager, supporter, listener, adviser, and lover.
But I tell myself to take a look at the example of our Almighty Lord everyday. We all have seen that our Lord is very frustrated with the Israelites since the children of Israel are complained something they want from Him. Most of the time, they are not appreciated.
Remember that we should not forget the Lord, because He teaches us to follow each demand our Lord gives us today. He has tested what our hearts do everyday. We must be humble, obey, and follow His commands. I believe that God will and would give us a huge blessing someday. We never know what He will give us a surprise thing. I do not mind how big or small things our Lord gives us…
Do Not Forget the Lord – Deuteronomy 8:1-10
6 Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in obedience to him and revering him. 7 For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills; 8 a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey; 9 a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills.
10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.
Commuting to my sons’ schools. Scheduling the important events at home and work. Doing laundry. Washing the dishes. Feeding my amazing humble guinea pig, Bugsy. Working on blog designs and graphic designs. Writing posts in my few blogs. Making my handmade Jewelry rings. My husband and teenage sons just chat with each other in the family circle.
Honestly, I admit I feel like that I want to scream -“Stop the loud sins around the world! I want to leave here!” But, I have to walk around the house for awhile and tell myself to calm down. Sitting down on my favorite chair is my best place where I need to get rest for 15-20 minutes. Otherwise, I prefer to take a hot bath with the stress relief soak for 30 minutes. How sweet!!
Sometime, I read Job 38:8 and 9; 40:1. These passages really help me to increase my perspective. No matter what happens, God is still God; and He is controlling my life. One day, I suppose to have one of these days, I think of God’s Words toward Job. God tells the wind to blow whatever happens to me – will be always handled carefully in His hands.
The Lord Speaks – Job 38:1 – 40:5
with words without knowledge?
3 Brace yourself like a man;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.
Tell me, if you understand.
5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
6 On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone—
7 while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?
when it burst forth from the womb,
9 when I made the clouds its garment
and wrapped it in thick darkness,
10 when I fixed limits for it
and set its doors and bars in place,
11 when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther;
here is where your proud waves halt’?
or shown the dawn its place,
13 that it might take the earth by the edges
and shake the wicked out of it?
14 The earth takes shape like clay under a seal;
its features stand out like those of a garment.
15 The wicked are denied their light,
and their upraised arm is broken.
or walked in the recesses of the deep?
17 Have the gates of death been shown to you?
Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?
18 Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
Tell me, if you know all this.
And where does darkness reside?
20 Can you take them to their places?
Do you know the paths to their dwellings?
21 Surely you know, for you were already born!
You have lived so many years!
or seen the storehouses of the hail,
23 which I reserve for times of trouble,
for days of war and battle?
24 What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed,
or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?
25 Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain,
and a path for the thunderstorm,
26 to water a land where no one lives,
an uninhabited desert,
27 to satisfy a desolate wasteland
and make it sprout with grass?
28 Does the rain have a father?
Who fathers the drops of dew?
29 From whose womb comes the ice?
Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens
30 when the waters become hard as stone,
when the surface of the deep is frozen?
Can you loosen Orion’s belt?
32 Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons
or lead out the Bear with its cubs?
33 Do you know the laws of the heavens?
Can you set up God’s dominion over the earth?
and cover yourself with a flood of water?
35 Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?
Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?
36 Who gives the ibis wisdom
or gives the rooster understanding?
37 Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?
Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens
38 when the dust becomes hard
and the clods of earth stick together?
and satisfy the hunger of the lions
40 when they crouch in their dens
or lie in wait in a thicket?
41 Who provides food for the raven
when its young cry out to God
and wander about for lack of food?
Do you watch when the doe bears her fawn?
2 Do you count the months till they bear?
Do you know the time they give birth?
3 They crouch down and bring forth their young;
their labor pains are ended.
4 Their young thrive and grow strong in the wilds;
they leave and do not return.
Who untied its ropes?
6 I gave it the wasteland as its home,
the salt flats as its habitat.
7 It laughs at the commotion in the town;
it does not hear a driver’s shout.
8 It ranges the hills for its pasture
and searches for any green thing.
Will it stay by your manger at night?
10 Can you hold it to the furrow with a harness?
Will it till the valleys behind you?
11 Will you rely on it for its great strength?
Will you leave your heavy work to it?
12 Can you trust it to haul in your grain
and bring it to your threshing floor?
though they cannot compare
with the wings and feathers of the stork.
14 She lays her eggs on the ground
and lets them warm in the sand,
15 unmindful that a foot may crush them,
that some wild animal may trample them.
16 She treats her young harshly, as if they were not hers;
she cares not that her labor was in vain,
17 for God did not endow her with wisdom
or give her a share of good sense.
18 Yet when she spreads her feathers to run,
she laughs at horse and rider.
or clothe its neck with a flowing mane?
20 Do you make it leap like a locust,
striking terror with its proud snorting?
21 It paws fiercely, rejoicing in its strength,
and charges into the fray.
22 It laughs at fear, afraid of nothing;
it does not shy away from the sword.
23 The quiver rattles against its side,
along with the flashing spear and lance.
24 In frenzied excitement it eats up the ground;
it cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds.
25 At the blast of the trumpet it snorts, ‘Aha!’
It catches the scent of battle from afar,
the shout of commanders and the battle cry.
and spread its wings toward the south?
27 Does the eagle soar at your command
and build its nest on high?
28 It dwells on a cliff and stays there at night;
a rocky crag is its stronghold.
29 From there it looks for food;
its eyes detect it from afar.
30 Its young ones feast on blood,
and where the slain are, there it is.”
Let him who accuses God answer him!”
4 “I am unworthy—how can I reply to you?
I put my hand over my mouth.
5 I spoke once, but I have no answer—
twice, but I will say no more.”
Of course, I am Mother and Wife. I love my husband and my sons. However, I love God more because He loves me first. I am so much alive here on the earth, take care of my husband and my sons. I understand that God has some reasons to create me as a Mother and Wife, He sent me here. He wants me to teach my sons growing better Christians and to help my husband just like Eve was Adam’s helper.
Living for God – 1 Peter 4:1-8
7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. 8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
